Thanksgiving in the Ozarks

Image
Great Family Picture! Nick set the timer and jumped through water for this one. It's amazing that it turned out so well. We spent Thanksgiving Day with family in the Ozarks and it was so nice outside!  We made a trip to the swinging bridges for the first time ever and let the kids (and adults) play outside.  Owen would have been content throwing rocks into the river for hours. Gracie and Owen posing by the river River and Annie Gracie even helped Annie put up her Christmas tree and decorate We spent one night with Annie and Chad, then spent the next night with my parents.  After dinner on Friday evening, we head back north to Iowa so we could spend Saturday and Sunday at home before Nick left to start his new job in Columbia.  The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind and some days I can't even remember what day it is.  I'm sure I've forgotten many things and probably will continue to do so for the next month...at least. ...

TIGERS!

Image
Our weekend was spent scoping out the city of Columbia, as well as spending a couple hours at the last home football game.  I have a feeling this might be the only game that Nick will get to attend with us.  It was a very quick trip and we spend most of it looking at potential properties to buy so we can move.  We saw two different homes and looked at some land in the area.  We might look some more when we head back down again on Wednesday for Thanksgiving. Black and Gold.  Two colors I never thought I would wear together.  Seems very strange, but I guess I will have to get used to it. First Missouri football game Family Picture as Missouri Tigers The game was freezing, although it was very nice to not have snow on the ground.  Sitting in the hot tub and letting the kids swim after the game was much more enjoyable.  But I'm so glad that we got to go so we could get a feel for the Mizzou culture.   This is what we left...

Last ISU Game

Image
November 14 was our last ISU football game, as well as Nick's last day of work, before becoming Missouri Tigers.  Very bittersweet to say the least.  We had a beautiful day for a football game and the DuRocher clan came to join us, as well as our neighbors.  It was a really fun way to end our ISU era and ISU came so close to pulling off the win for us.   Ryleigh and Gracie enjoying the game Lucas and Owen Gracie and Mom Gracie and Owen Owen and Mom Look who came to visit us on his last day of work! It's not very often that we get to see Nick during a football game.  Most of the time he just watches us from his perch in the command post.  The kids sure enjoy any minute they get to see him at work, though and were very excited when he showed up.   Owen and Jonah So many great memories at ISU.  The kids have been coming with me to events since they were being toted around in their car carriers.  From ...

Seasons of Change

Image
Ok…(big sigh) (deep breaths)…we are moving.  Less than four years after building our house on a fantastic acreage, we are moving over 250 miles south to Columbia, MO.  I'm not sure who still reads/looks at my blog, and I realize it has been awhile since I have posted anything, but The Britton family will be experiencing quite a bit of change in the upcoming months.  When I think about change, especially of this magnitude, I am left with feelings that are hard to describe.  Excitement, anxiety, sadness, hope, gratitude, fear, and overwhelmed are all understatements of the roller coaster of emotions I have been on for the past few weeks.  Change, for many, is challenging and I’m sure as some read this, the feelings will be understood and very relevant.  Most of the time I find it best to find humor in situations and try to make lemonade out of lemons.  While this will be a really great thing, there is so much apprehension that I feel going into th...

Happy Birthday Gracie (4 weeks ago!)

Image
I had really good intentions to get pictures posted right away from Gracie's birthday, but it just didn't happen.  She had fun, anyway, though.  We took Gracie and about ten of her friends bowling in Madrid.  They had a great time, but 1 game of bowling was more than plenty for these girls.  Gracie got her Elsa-Frozen cake and lots of stuff she wanted for her birthday.  Ryleigh even came to help her celebrate!   Gracie and Ryleigh at the bowling alley Gracie with a couple of her friends after opening presents Blow out the candle! New hat from Owen Time to ride dirt bikes!  New gloves to complete the outfit! Owen has his new gloves and goggles for the dirt bike.   FOOTBALL!   Owen finally had his first game of football!  He has been wanting to play football for probably about 2 years now.  It's amazing that those boys can stay focused for more than 10 minutes at a time.  I guess even when...
