Graduations!!!

May was filled with graduation celebrations.  Including Gracie's!  Following the end of Mizzou's semester, Gracie walked at graduation to receive her diploma with her class of 2026.  It has been a joy having her back at home and she seemed so incredibly happy to be able to spend the last week of her senior year with some of her high school friends.  This would not have been possible, had Mizzou softball made it to post season.  It is good that she can make the best of whatever situation life has dealt to her. All smiles on graduation day Gracie and Nova decorated their grad caps. Senior sunset night The seniors spent the evening out at Nova's She seemed to have a lot of fun connecting with her classmates after  being at Mizzou for a semester. And Just Like That...

Activities are done for awhile.  It is a very strange feeling, looking at the next two months with few competitions and destinations in the calendar.  Coaches talk about visualization and seeing yourself producing the best possible outcomes through your training.  I was doing that for Gracie and Owen, but I guess it doesn't work that way.  In my head, the results from the competitions of the past week should have been very different from the actual outcomes.  I guess I always think that way; "of course we can win. It's always possible."  But that's not how it works.  I try to be realistic, too, but even when my brain says it's not, my heart says... you can do this.  So many variables that are out of our control, and everything happens for a reason. Spoiler alert.  Owen placed 2nd at Freestyle state (16u) Same with Bryce (Juniors). Nick and Owen left on Friday evening (5/1) with Max and Afton to compete in Springfield for State Freestyle...

Where has the time gone?

THIS! AND THIS ...is what it is all about.  Those moments when it makes everything worth it.  Some athletes experience more of them than others, but when you get that feeling of accomplishment, it keeps you going.  I remember the first camp that Gracie went to at Mizzou when she was still 11 years old... at a 7-12 grade camp.  She didn't skip a beat, even though she still had so much to learn.  I think she was 7 when she first put on a "Mizzou Uniform" to wear for awhile.  And now we are close to the end of regular season in her first semester at Mizzou, almost 6 years later (or 10 years after she discovered her love).  Yes, Gracie.  Little you would be so proud.  Keep making that 7, 8 or 11 year-old you proud and soak it all in.  There are still so many highs and lows left to come and I hope you feel it all, and keep thinking "this is worth it."  The process is what matters and provides so much fuel to keep chasing your dreams and ...
