Mother's Day Weekend and More

Image
I couldn't have asked for a better mother's day weekend.  I got a little of all my favorite things throughout the weekend.  Nick and I competed in a relay race on a team of 6.  We started in Jefferson, IA Saturday morning and took turns running 72 miles until we ended up in Des Moines.  It was a really fun day, at least for me! We also had perfect weather. Nick's mom was awesome and took care of our kids while we were running.  Thank you!    My last leg of the race    Our team: Amber Van Loo, Nick, Heath, me, Corey Loewe and Lacey Loewe    Here's proof that Nick actually ran!     The next day we visited Nick's mom to pick up our kids and eat lunch with the family.  Again, we had a great day to spend some time down there.  Later in the day we took the kids to The Lion King at the Civic Center in Des Moines.  The kids thought this was awesome, even though they were exha...

Happy Birthday and Happy Graduation to ME!

So...Nick and I went to Miami together.  It was kind of decided only a couple weeks ahead of time.  He knew that he had to be at meetings down there and asked me at the last minute to join him.  So after frantically coordinating to make sure our kids and animals were taken care of, we were able to get away for a few days together.  It was a fantastic mini-vacation and I'm so glad that we went together.  I had two days of almost completely unstructured time in which I could take as long as I wanted to run, shop, and sit by the pool.  Not to mention going out to eat two nights with just adults and attending a baseball game.    The best part was going to the beach for a couple hours the last day we were there.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  THANK YOU NICK!    Attending the Marlins vs. Rays game on the afternoon that we arrived in Miami    My running route for the two days that we were there.  I c...

Spring Activities

We have been busy since the beginning of March.  We made a trip down to the Ozarks again, and this time Nick joined us so he could meet River.   The weather was beautiful again and we were able to go hiking, play a little basketball, and eat out at a restaurant on the lake.  It was so good to see our family again! During March, I also completed my internship for grad school.  So I am DONE!!!!!  I am so relieved to finally have this done.  It has been a long four years, and now that I've had no reading or papers to write in the past month, it's strange to have that free time.  My transcripts have been sent and my diploma should arrive soon.  Very excited! Now that spring is here, we are starting to get busy again with activities.  Nick is coaching Gracie's softball team and I'm one of Owen's coaches for t-ball.  We started practices in April, and they have both had several games.  They got out the stuff prior to games a...
