Fall Things

I feel pretty good about this post.  It has been less than a month since the last, and after uploading all of these pictures, I realized that all we do right now is work, go to school, and play football and softball.  The days are getting shorter, and even though it's been pretty warm still, the trees are turning colors and I can feel fall is taking over.  Only a couple more weeks of softball and we'll switch over to the beginning of winter activities.

These photos are from the Jefferson City softball tournament a few weeks ago.  It was just a one-day tournament, and Owen, of course also had a football game on the same day.  So we were running back and forth between the two  activities.  After the Gracie's tournament was done, we had the softball team and their families at our house for dinner.  It was a fun night!

Gracie wanted to prove she could do a handstand in her catching gear.

Owen's football game.  This was an intense stare down.

More football for Owen

Playing some QB this game

I can't remember which game this was. Gracie got to pitch though.  She has been playing a few different positions, and seems to do well at each of them.

Owen helping out with stats.

Another Mizzou football game!

We stayed for the whole game.  We didn't end up beating Georgia, but they did pretty well against the #2 ranked team.  It was a good game to watch.

Owen and Mom having fun.

This was the game that Nick left for at 4:30am and arrived to a water main break at Hearnes. Go figure...on a football game day.  A lot of the lower level was flooded and they have been working to get everything cleaned up and running again.  This is the venue that volleyball, wrestling, and gymnastics compete in.  It's still not done, so volleyball is playing at Mizzou Arena right now.  This will be a process, I'm sure.

After the game!

It turned into a pretty warm day so we stopped at Andy's after the game.

Monster Bash 2018

Who wore it best????

I helped a little bit with costumes and decorations for the Monsterbash tournament in KC.  Owen demonstrated Nick's "cowardly lion costume.  The team went with the Wizard of Oz theme this year and all of the girls were flying monkeys.  The team didn't perform as well as they hoped they would but they won the spirit contest with their costumes and dugout out decorations.

All of the characters!

The dugout all decorated

Another picture in front of the dugout.

Last game of the night was played at 9:30pm.  It was a late night.
What's in the cup, Coach???

Warming up for the last game.

Rounding 3rd

After another base hit.

Nick and I had to drive separately to Kansas City because Owen had a football game in Columbia.  We only had to miss Gracie's first game, though and since there was a rain delay, we made it to the last inning.  Owen had a really good football game!  He pulled 4 flags and was so excited.  I'm so glad that we found a flag football program for him!

I'm not sure where this was found.

Pumpkin Fun Run!

Since we didn't have a tournament to go to or a Mizzou football game this weekend, we needed something to do, right????   The kids did this run a couple years ago when we first moved to Columbia and did it again this year.  It was a really beautiful morning for a race!  I ran it with them and we all completed 1.4 miles.  Owen ran most of it.  I stayed back with Gracie.  She ran and walked, until she found a friend and they the last 1/2 of it together. Owen was probably a quarter mile ahead of Gracie and I tried to catch up to him during the last 1/2 mile, but couldn't. He ran it pretty hard.  So proud of both of them for finishing it!

Nick too this of Gracie finishing.  She looks like a runner, but still does not like to run unless there is a purpose.  She said she was glad that she did it, though.  She won't be able to run it next year; she'll be too old.

Owen finishing.  He beat Gracie.  I only saw him slow down to walk once when he was ahead of us.  He did pretty well!

After the race.  I think Owen enjoyed it more than Gracie.

On to football.

This was only about 90 minutes later.  We had beautiful weather for the race and then rain for Owen's entire football game.  He told me this is what football is supposed to be like.  Today was his last game and he had so much fun this season playing football!

He was soaked and cold after his game.

After his last game, Upward has a celebration night and we attended that with Owen while Gracie had a birthday sleepover at a friend's house. It was a really fun night.  They had a magician for entertainment and they recognized all of the people who help make the program a success.  It was definitely a good thing for him and I think we'll probably do it again next year.

We made it down to the lake once in the past month!  We went down to see Chad and Annie while they visited from Iowa.  Chad took the boys fishing.  I think there was also swimming involved.  I had another sinus infection so I stayed back and took a nap in the condo.  This is possibly the last picture we will get at Indian Pointe!

Mom and Dad are selling their condo and moving into a house about 10 minutes away.  They are so excited to have a real house again.  They have lived at Indian Pointe since 2003!  They are trying to close on the new house the first week in November.

So, football is done for Owen and softball is wrapping up for Gracie.  She has one more night of league games on Wednesday, and then two tournaments, both in Columbia.  Their season has been a little rough with the transition to 12u softball.  Gracie seems to adjust ok, though.  She is still getting on base almost every at-bat.  She has also been able to pitch more than she did during the summer.  They are a pretty young team playing against other teams who have already had a year at 12u.  We'll see how they finish out the season.

Gracie has already started basketball practices and Owen will start wrestling n less than a month.  Hard to believe.
