Update on the House
Quite a bit has happened in the last couple weeks regarding the construction process. We are starting to have a structure that looks like we will eventually be able to live in it. These photos are from May 24-June 2, so about a week and a half time frame. I'm guessing we will go down sometime this week again and will have more update photos. I will do the best I can to explain what the pictures are and what is being done.

This is a view of the front of the house. (Owen is walking in front). On the left is the opening for the garage and the door will be about in the middle of the house. There are three windows to the left of the door, very similar to our old house. To the right of the front door are two windows; one will be in the office of our new house. It's hard to see everything because it is just framed in.
Here is a little closer look of the front of the house.
This picture is taken looking in through the front door toward the kitchen. The wall with no windows will have kitchen cabinets and a refrigerator on it.
This is also looking in through the front door and toward the stairs. The stairs going up had not been built yet. It will be open about half way up the stairs and vaulted to the second floor in the entryway.
This picture is taken from the back sliding door toward the living area at the front of the house. Like I said, it will be set up very similar to our previous home that we built in Huxley.
Looking downstairs toward the basement.
This is a photo of the back of the house. The windows are all covered in house-wrap, which has since been cut to show the windows.
This photo is the master bedroom. We will have 4 windows instead of the sliding door that we had in our previous home. It will be set up the same, though.
There were a few things that we noticed weren't quite right with the framing. Nick is marking out corrections in this picture. This is still in the master bedroom and he is fixing the door to our closet. It was supposed to be centered, but was not.
Other things that we noticed after this walk through were that the mud room bathroom opened into the kitchen instead of the mudroom. That was going to be a problem, but the framers were on that right away. We also didn't have the entry from the mudroom to the living room in the correct place, so that doorway will be moved to provide more space in our living area. Hopefully that's all we'll have to fix from here out. (yeah, right.) A couple days after these were taken, the joists for the second floor had been done and the first floor had plywood for walls. I didn't add pictures because it looked very similar to these. On Memorial Day, the framers started on the wrap around porch, which the following pictures show. Then a couple days later, the second floor was started.
June 1
This is the back side of the house. The porch and second floor have been started.
June 2
The front of the house with the porch. We will have a covered wraparound porch to the back and hopefully have a screened in porch on the back of the house.
This is a closer look at the front. The front porch will have a 6' depth and the side and back will have 8' depth. The screened in area will be 12x14, I think, and will have stairs off the back that descend to the walkout patio below.
Gracie and Nick on the back side of the house.
This is looking in from the front door. The stairs have been built to the second level and the kids' rooms and bathroom are framed in.
This will be the sliding door on the back side of the house. We will be able to walk out into the screened porch area.
A picture of the back of the house. Gracie and Owen are standing in their rooms looking out the windows. The master bedroom is on the main floor on the left side under Gracie.
This is a picture taken from the kitchen area. Owen is walking down the stairs.
Another picture of the front of the house from a different angle.
I'm quite certain that it has changed again since these were taken, but we haven't been down to take a look since last Friday. Hopefully soon, we will get to start making decisions about the details of the house. I'm guessing the next couple of months will go quickly.
