Mother's Day Weekend and More

I couldn't have asked for a better mother's day weekend.  I got a little of all my favorite things throughout the weekend.  Nick and I competed in a relay race on a team of 6.  We started in Jefferson, IA Saturday morning and took turns running 72 miles until we ended up in Des Moines.  It was a really fun day, at least for me! We also had perfect weather. Nick's mom was awesome and took care of our kids while we were running.  Thank you!

Our team: Amber Van Loo, Nick, Heath, me, Corey Loewe and Lacey Loewe

Here's proof that Nick actually ran!

The next day we visited Nick's mom to pick up our kids and eat lunch with the family.  Again, we had a great day to spend some time down there.  Later in the day we took the kids to The Lion King at the Civic Center in Des Moines.  The kids thought this was awesome, even though they were exhausted.  Our plan for them to nap on the way home from Grandma Deb's fell through, so they were running on empty.
Ready to go to the show!

We're still involved with t-ball, softball, dance, and other activities.  They've both had games this week and Gracie had her first gymnastics show.

Gracie's gymnastics show.  She did great and seems to love entertaining and performing

They all got medals for performing

Not sure what's going on here....Gracie wanted her picture taken.  Owen is in the background wrestling Tanner Hiatt (a former Ballard wrestler) at a graduation party.

The school year is wrapping up and we've started graduation parties.  Only a couple weeks left for us and Owen has his preschool graduation in a week.  We have a conference for him this week and will talk to his preschool teacher about what the best thing for him will be as far as early kindergarten or regular kindergarten.  He seems to be really excited for either one and getting to ride the bus to school next year with Gracie.  He rides his bike out to wait with her most mornings.

Gracie lost another tooth, so we're up to 6 now.  She was at school this time and the tooth actually made it home.  So, she now has $6 worth of silver dollars.  I signed them both up for swimming lessons, which will have to wait until July this year because we are going on vacation in June.  They allowed Owen to participate even though you're supposed to be five years.  I think he'll be fine.

The next couple weeks are going to fly by.  I can't believe another school year is almost in the books!  Gracie and Owen will be going to Lily Pad three times a week again this year so I can run the summer school program at Ballard High.  Gracie gets pretty excited to do all the fun stuff they provide for the kids.  This might be the last summer for LilyPad.  We'll see...  Gracie will have her dance recital in a couple weeks and we'll celebrate Owen's graduation next week!
