Happy Birthday Owen!
My little Cyclone Tiger!
Gracie and Owen after having their faces painted at ISU Fanfest
For his birthday, Owen had a very full day, starting with pancakes, followed by a birthday donut from his DAD! We took both kids to ISU fanfest at Hilton, where they got their faces painted, played in bounce houses, threw footballs, basketballs, and baseballs, and many other activities. They were pretty excited to be there even though it was so hot out. They are both really excited about going to the first football game next weekend, which is also supposed to be a very hot day. We'll see how that goes! Gracie is taking a friend with her for her birthday.
Hulk! SMASH!
Thanks Grandma Deb!
Gracie had to try on the mask, too
Owen wanted a football cake again this year, so here it is again.
More fanfest pictures...Owen trying to throw the football through the holes.
A different football throwing game...we have to work on which foot goes forward when he throws.
Gracie shooting some baskets in a cheerleading uniform and flip flops. How fitting. She kind of looks like she knows what she's doing though...at least in this picture.
Owen's new movie, "Puss'n'Boots." He was excited.
Another new mask. He loves all of his Super heroes stuff! He is very protective of his new toys and doesn't want Gracie to play with them. He was hiding them under the couch.
Owen had so much fun on his birthday. Fanfest was hot, but the kids love getting to do all of that stuff. We had family over later in the afternoon for presents, cake, and ice cream. Thanks to all who came to help Owen celebrate. Owen received lot of new toys, all of which he loves and is very possessive of. He does not want Gracie to play with them and is afraid that she might lose them (which is very possible).
After family left, our neighbors on the lake invited us to come swim with them and ended up taking the kids tubing. They loved it and probably would have gone until dark if we had let them. Thank you Loewe's!
Saturday was Prairiefest in Huxley, which was a very busy day! The 10k race was in the morning, and the kids came to watch me finish. My friend Traci came over from Madrid to compete and she smoked everyone else in the 10k. Unfortunately we're still in the same age group until next year. I will never beat her unless I take her knees out with a baseball bat.
Anyway, following that the kids rode in the parade with Nick. They did a float and rode 4-wheelers advertising their Frog-Jumping Contest to raise money for Ballard Wrestling Club. Nick has been busy for the past week going out at night finding frogs to compete. The frogs are auctioned off for competition. It's a pretty fun and entertaining event.
Gracie and Owen both competed in the Kids Tractor Pedal Pull event. Gracie won the 4-year old division! She finished with a full pull of 40 feet. They asked if we wanted to enter her in the state competition, but we declined. I can't believe that have a state competition for that! She was pretty proud of her trophy that she won. She asked me if I ever won any trophies when I was her age. That made me laugh...no I didn't, Gracie. After eating dinner at the Firemen's hog roast, we called it a night and went home to watch a movie. Nick had to go into work and the kids were exhausted.
Over also we had a really good weekend. Gracie starts dance and tumbling this week and her birthday is on Friday. The first football game is on Saturday and we're having a few of Gracie's friends out to our house on Sunday for cake and ice cream. It's supposed to be another hot week!
