Back to Work
I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I started back to work again yesterday and Owen started daycare. The first day went really well. They said that he slept and ate well, and was pretty content for most of the day. They also said that he would fall asleep anywhere that they put him. However, he was a bit fussy for a couple hours last night. My day also went well, but was pretty uneventful. It is good to be back at work.
We played softball over the weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. We lost on Sunday, but it was fun to be playing again. Gracie and Owen stayed with babysitters both days for a couple hours. Nick worked on Saturday at the football game and I watched it on TV for awhile. It was pretty hard to watch though. ISU did not do very well against Utah. On Friday I met one of my friends in Williamsburg to go shopping after I dropped off Gracie and Owen at Nick's mom's. I had to celebrate my last day of maternity leave. :) Then Nick came down to his mom's after work. He had not been down there forever. A week ago, we took both of them to Center Grove Orchard, which is just east of Huxley. Gracie had fun with all the animals and everything else there is to do there. Hopefully we will get out there again this fall. It is pretty neat.
Nick was sick last week for a couple days, but we did get to go out for lunch on our anniversary. Owen tagged along, but that's not a big deal. He just sleeps a lot of the time.
Owen has finally started stretching his nights out a little bit and can sleep for 4 hours or more. Last night he ate at 10:50, fell asleep at 11:15 and did not need to eat again until 4:15. He was awake a couple of times, but just needed his pacifier. This is very encouraging for me. This morning I just got up and went to work out since I was awake anyway. It was nice working out in the morning again. Running is like my morning coffee. :) Owen also is starting to grow some of the hair back that he lost. His forhead is starting to get fuzzy again. He seems happy most of the time still and when he smiles we almost think that he wants to laugh.
Gracie is still doing well. We turned her crib into the toddler bed last week and she has been doing pretty well with this. She has only come out of her room a few times. She has fallen out a couple times, but luckily it's pretty close to the floor. I don't think she remembers it though. When she is sleeping it is really hard to wake her up. It was weird at first when I could hear her coming down the stairs in the morning or after her nap, but I think she has been sleeping better, overall with a pillow and real sheets. Gracie also has two more bottom teeth. They must be her two year molars. I have no idea when they started to come through, but I checked her mouth over the weekend, and there they were. I thought it was weird that she was asking for the teething ring when she saw it in the freezer.
We don't have a lot planned for the upcoming weekend, as there is no home football game. Finally! Hopefully the nice weather will keep up. It has been so nice to be outside for the past week. The end of the first quarter at school is already next Friday. The time is just flying! Soon it will be the holidays!
