3 weeks already!

Peek...playing on the activity mat

Gracie thinks she needs to play on Owen's activity mat, too.

And in his car seat.

Sleeping

Owen at about a week old
It doesn't seem like it has already been 3 weeks since Owen was born. The time goes by so fast. He is much more alert than he was even last week. There are a few times each day that he will stay awake for over an hour. Most of the time he is pretty content, but it seems that he cries more than Gracie did. At night he doesn't always like going back to sleep right away, either. Owen had his 2 week dr. check up last Thursday and had already gained over 1 pound since birth. He was 9 lbs 12 oz at his appointment. He is a healthy boy and the doctor was impressed with him. He eats about every 3 hours or so. He can go 3 1/2 to 4 hours at night. Last night he was up at 10:45pm, 2:30am and then again around 6am. That's not too bad. Hopefully he will keep stretching that out. I would be very happy if he was sleeping 5-6 hours at a time by the time I go back to work in October.
Gracie was a little sick yesterday and was sent home from daycare. She had some diarrhea, but otherwise was acting fine. She went back today and hopefully won't have any more problems. She is still doing well and will be staying with her Gramma this weekend. Nick will be in Kansas City for the ISU football game from Thursday through Saturday and I am going to take Owen up to Cedar Falls with me to see a couple of friends who live up that way on Friday. Gracie will have a great time down at the farm. I also had a conference with one of Gracie's teachers at daycare this week. She put a portfolio together for her with lots of information and pictures in it. It was really neat. There didn't seem to be many concerns about Gracie in any areas. The only negative comment she had was that Gracie likes to test boundaries and limits to see how much she can get away with. That was no surprise to me, though. Gracie is doing well with everything else. She has moved up to the next room, which is the younger 2 year old room. They said that she might be moved to the older two year old room before the end of the year, based on how she is doing and needs of other kids.
We didn't do much last weekend. Nick and I went to a friend's house to watch the ISU vs IA football game, which was a big downer for ISU. We were able to take both Gracie and Owen, though, and Gracie got to play with all the other kids there. It's so nice to know people who have kids and who are so much fun! We went to church on Sunday and then Nick played softball in the afternoon. Gracie, Owen, and I went to watch for a little while and then went to the park so Gracie could play.
I guess that's about all that's new. Hopefully the next few days go smoothly while Nick is gone and I make my way up north. I have 3 1/2 weeks left of maternity leave and I'm sure they will go by quickly.
