We Can Finally Play Outside!
The past couple weeks have gotten better and better. We had a little snow at the end of spring break, but that was gone very quickly. Gracie and I have been able to take walks again, and Jasmine goes with us sometimes, too. Gracie still loves going for walks and it is hard to get her to come inside. She had a little melt down yesterday when we told her that she couldn't go outside right after church. She cried for about ten minutes and then found something else to do. We're such mean parents. She was outside from right after her nap until dinner, which was around 6pm. We went for a long walk, went to the park, and she helped us pick up the yard a little bit. At the park she wanted to climb up the stairs and go up to the top to go down the tornado slide over and over again. I am happy that she could do it all by herself! I was also happy that she didn't throw a fit when I told her it was time to go home to see dad.
Saturday we were down at Nick's mom' s for the day. It was also a nice day and Gracie got to do an Easter egg hunt and play with all the animals down there. She lost interest in finding Easter eggs pretty quickly. She got to play with all of her cousins, also.
Gracie was sick last week for a day or two. We kept her home from daycare on Wednesday because she was up a lot of the night and running a temperature. She was so congested and unhappy. I'm glad that didn't last very long! She is otherwise doing pretty well. We have been really lucky all winter, with very few illnesses. Gracie is starting to get a bit more picky with food. She loves hot dogs, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, tomato soup, cottage cheese, and almost any fruit. We also found that she likes speghetti. She will eat sandwiches, but has to take them apart first. She usually goes for the cheese first, then the meat, then eats the bread. It's kind of funny to watch. It takes some effort to get her to eat vegetables now, along with meat. Sometimes we can't tell if she doesn't like something or if she is just distracted/not hungry.
We have now gone over two weeks without her binkie and she has adjusted pretty well. She is continuing to sleep from about 8pm until around 7am and takes a nap around 12:30pm for about 1 1/2-2 hours. Yesterday was 2 hours. She must have been really tired. She learned how to say "dad's at work" last week. She is really close to saying "I love you." It's still hard to get her to say things on her own, but she's getting pretty good at repeating when you ask her to. I think we might be getting close to potty training, too. She wanted in the bathroom the other day and we couldn't figure out why... Nick and I have agreed that in addition to pets with their owners, there are no stupid children, only stupid parents.
On Wednesday, Nick and I get to find out the gender of Baby #2. We are both so excited! We'll let everyone know as soon as we know.
