Prom!

Pre-Prom at Porters

Prom preparation actually started earlier in the week with self-tanning, nails, eyebrows, dinner reservations, flowers, etc.  Gracie and Kate had their nails done in Columbia on Friday afternoon.  Then Gracie spent most of the day with Nova on Saturday getting ready for the afternoon/evening.  I went out there as soon as the gymnastics banquet was done to help a little with hair.

It looked so good!

Gracie and Nova - they are so beautiful.

I got one with my girl

Chase picked up Gracie from Nova's house and we all met down in Jeff City at the State Capitol.

Good looking group of kids here.

We spent a little over an hour walking around the capitol after the kids were picked up by their dates.  I met them down there and we found most of our school and 2 other schools taking pictures at the same place.  I had not idea this was a popular location for all schools for prom pics.  Following pictures, the kids went to dinner at The Grand Cafe.  I think Gracie said that she made the reservation for 14 of them.  Not sure who all attended the dinner.  After dinner, they made their way to the Capitol Ritz for the dance.  I saw a few pictures, but it doesn't seem like it was anything too crazy.  Gracie and Chase made it back to our house by 9:45pm and he stayed until 11pm.  Gracie had to get up pretty early for softball the next day.  They seemed to have fun and I didn't hear many complaints or crazy stories.

And... while all this was happening, Owen was competing in Springfield, MO.  I shared that outcome in the previous post, but here are some pictures from Owen's day.

Owen, Bryce, Kyle, and Nick

As I mentioned, Owen placed 2nd, which is great, but didn't qualify him for the dual team like it did a year ago.  He and Nick will be heading north to Minnesota this weekend to compete at Northern Regionals to try to qualify for Fargo later this summer.  Last year he went out to Kansas with Bryce, but Bryce already qualified.  Owen seems very comfortable with going to compete on his own.

Gracie and I will be heading out to Desoto, KS again this weekend with 3 of her Aces teammates for a day of practice tomorrow.  I had hoped to go down to the lake for Mother's Day, but Gracie will be helping with baccalaureate at noon on Sunday.  So we'll see how long that lasts and when Nick and Owen plan to be back home.  A week from now is graduation weekend for both Mizzou and Southern Boone, so I'm sure it will be a busy weekend again.  Thankfully, no tournaments or practices are scheduled, as of now.

I love this view every spring.
Nick trimmed the snowball bush and it looks so good!
I can't wait to fill the rest of the pots with flowers!
