Wrapping up Fall with Some Fun

We finally have school pictures for both of the kids.  Gracie's were on time; Owen's were not.  It took forever for the company to respond to me regarding Owen's pics.  So here they are...
Owen, 8th grade

Gracie 10th grade

The first quarter of the 23-24 school year has come and gone.  November is here, and the next few weeks will pass so quickly!  I'm counting down to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Time is such a complicated concept.  I so want it to slow down, but at the same time, there are so many things that we're looking forward to.   Time goes terribly slow when we're waiting for things to happen, but then when it's done, I'm always thinking, how is it over already???  When you're in the grind of some of the tough stuff, like the crazy busy schedules and travel, it can be exhausting, but stepping back and looking at the big picture, we are so blessed with the opportunities we have and the means to get them accomplished.  I'm sure the next 6 weeks of wrestling, 4 months of basketball, and 3 months of CWC wrestling will be the same.

In the next three weeks, Gracie will travel to Texas, St. Louis, and Florida for Aces softball competition, all while starting her school basketball season.  I will get to go with her to St. Louis and Florida and am pretty excited about that.  We just have to help her stay at 95% attendance so she doesn't have to take her finals at school this semester!  As soon as her Fall Softball is done, basketball games begin.  She is super excited for basketball and has the goal of proving to people that their team will be better than expected this year, after losing 5 phenomenal seniors last year.

Owen will start nonstop wrestling next Friday.  They have 11 meets in 6 weeks. So most weeks there will be at least 2 wrestling meets, and then the first week of December we will add basketball games to the schedule.  There will not be very many free evenings leading up to Christmas once competitions start.

Back to fall activities...  Halloween and football games.

You would think this is Halloween, but..
For the last home SBC football game, the theme was Halloween/costume.
Gracie was a bear hunter, Nova was the bear.
Very creative, girls.

At least they stayed warm during the game.

Pumpkin Carving!
Owen and Kegan working on theirs.

Gracie and Nova creating their jack-o-lanterns.

Good work kids!

Do you see the theme???
Nightmare Before Christmas
(except for Barbie)
They all did a great job and needed very little adult help.

Gracie's pumpkin
She did the dog, too

Owen's pumpkin - well done.

Owen insisted on collecting candy again this year.
He had to wait for his friends to get done with their basketball practice so he could join them.
Same mask as last year, so I guess that works.

Post-Season Softball Honors

Gracie's accolades from sophomore year

So many goals achieved this year for Gracie.  She improved in almost every offensive area compared to last year.  Her goal was 10 homeruns.  She hit 12 and now has the SBC single season school record.  I believe her goal was to hit over .500.  She also did this with BA of .544 I believe.  Five runners caught stealing and 5 picked off.  I will have all the stats after her banquet, which is November 14.  I know it says it in the graphic, but she was Conference Player of the Year. What a huge honor and accomplishment!  Pretty proud of this girl!

All-conference honors

All-district honors

What a year!  Our district is so tough!  But we had 9 girls represent our school.  Three of the catchers from our district were all-state last year, including Gracie, so it's pretty competitive in that position.  I should have the full list somewhere, but I can't find it.  We also had 4 girls make the all-region team which consists of 2 districts combined.  Gracie, Hailey, and Brook were 1st team all-region, and Chloe was 2nd team.  We are still waiting for all-state to be announced.  Hopefully by the time we have our banquet we will know.  It has been a great year for SBC Softball and I'm looking forward to celebrating all of their accomplishments in a couple weeks.

Moving on to Fall softball

SBC teammates in Aces uniforms. Not on the same team, but still get to see each other.
Looking forward to seeing more improvement at the national level.

Like I mentioned, there will be three more softball tournaments and then fully committed to basketball.
Not a lot of down time for anyone.
