On to the Next Thing

Branson!

It has been four years since our family has been to Branson.  Gracie provided us with the opportunity to visit, once again.  She was invited by the Southern Boone Basketball team to play in a varsity tournament July 27-29, so I went with her for those three days and then Nick and Owen joined us for the rest of the weekend.  It was a lot of fun and I think Gracie did pretty well.

More playing time

We were fortunate enough to stay two nights on the landing at the Hilton Promenade.  Lots of places to shop and eat there.  The girls ended up playing 10 games and went 8-2 overall.  Gracie got a fair amount of playing time due to one of the other girls not going due to getting sick and another girl broke her collarbone playing basketball the weekend prior to that.  So, there were only 7 girls that played for the three days of tournament.  Nick and Owen joined us on the last day we were there and watched the last three games.  It was a lot more cohesive team than what I have seen.  They worked pretty well together.  There were times when Gracie looked like she didn't know what was going on, but the older girls were very helpful and told her what she needed to do.  It was pretty fun to watch.

Moving on to our KOA cabin.

We spent the rest of Friday afternoon and evening at our campground and the evening at Silver Dollar City.  We went that night because of the forecasted rain for the following day.  We had a good 5 hours of fun at the park. I even went on a ride with the kids.

This is hilarious.  Gracie was a little tired and I caught a yawn while the ride was getting ready to take off.  This was the Time Traveler.  I did not go on this one.

Waiting for the Time Traveler

Getting done on the Time Traveler.
Gracie does not look impressed.  I think she hit her limit.

I can't remember what this one was called.  It got the thumbs up, though.

Waiting for Owen and Nick to ride Wildfire
I did go on this one.

Nick and Owen rode this one at least twice.

Run times; at least they're all smiling.

We stayed until around 9:30 and I think everyone was done.  We went out for ice cream and then headed to our cabin.  I'm glad we went on Friday night because the forecast was correct, and it rained almost the entire day on Saturday.  We went shopping, and I think everyone else in Branson decided to also go shopping.  The outlet mall was so busy, but we did get a few things for pretty good deals.

New shoes for school

After shopping, Owen and Nick decided to take a nap.
The hammock never fails.

Gracie and I also took a nap, but in the cabin.  After the afternoon rain had ceased, we found something else to do... Go Karts!  Then we bought supplies to do a fire to roast hot dogs, and smores.  It was a good evening.

Gracie and Nick racing
They actually got in a wreck.  Gracie spun out and couldn't make it up a hill.

Back at camp

Ruby!  She made the trip with us!

She's so cute.

Cooking on the fire.

Owen...

Sibling fun - again, they're both smiling, so I'm happy, too.

Waiting in the car.
I feel like there was a lot of waiting while we were in Branson.

Back home on the acreage
Gracie spent the night with Nova one night and Owen had some fun at home with his friends.
This looks like trouble.
I think they all need helmets.

These boys.  It was fun watching them.

Since then, Gracie and Owen spent a few nights with Grandma and Grandpa at the lake.  I believe they had fun and appreciated not having any "to-do" lists from their mom while they are at home all day.  I spent an afternoon down at the lake with them when I went to pick them up and we finished a little more shopping.  Sunday was busy with church and fall activity meetings for school.  Gracie also had a basketball clinic at Columbia College. High School Sports practices started this week and middle school starts next week.  We're about to get really busy again!
