A Fun Week in May
Yep. It's been less than a week since my last update, but we had such a good week, I didn't want to wait. We've had more fun times with Grandma Deb. Some busy days, and some not so much. But all of them are good. She got to go see 2 practices for Gracie with her softball team, took the kids out for ice cream, we went boating at the lake, rode bikes, walked, and many more things. We have been working and doing school, but we are so fortunate to spend that much time together.
Gracie waiting so "patiently" for the pizza to get done.
We've had many more family dinners and Nick decided that last Friday night was a good night for pizza. Any night is a good night for pizza, especially homemade.
Boating!!!!
We took the day off from work on Tuesday to go play at the lake. My parents decided that was the day to move their boat 25 miles upstream to a new slip, closer to where they live. What a great day! The weather wasn't perfect, but it could've been much worse. There was no rain, and we had intermittent sunshine in the afternoon. We ate out TWICE in the same day!
Owen went swimming at the Boathouse, which is where my dad works.
Gracie brought her swimsuit, but decided not to swim.
We had lunch here before heading out on the water.
At least the pool is heated.

Yes, she is in a sweatshirt and Owen is in his swimsuit in the pool.
Hanging out with my dad.
On the boat!

Owen got to drive under the direction of Captain Tom.

Grandmas enjoying the afternoon.
Fun on the boat.
I'm posting this one because of the significant difference in expressions between Amber and Gracie.
Amber does not look impressed.
Smiles all around
Waiting at the gas dock
Here we are, getting ready to cast off.
We just have a lot of pictures because we had such a good day!
Windblown hair
Again, both Grandmas. I hope the kids remember this day.
Yes they are getting ready to jump in when we arrived at the new slip.
This water is not heated. They are all crazy. The temperature was only 62 degrees.
I guess it wasn't that bad, they weren't turning blue.
There's still no way that I would get in that cold water.
Thor had a birthday on May 18!
I can't believe it has been three years ago since he was born. We were still at the rental property in Columbia. He has turned into a pretty good looking horse. His leg has almost healed, also
Owen with Thor on Thor's birthday. Nick let him start going out into the round pen last week.
I'm sure he will be excited to get out on the pasture again.
Softball!
This is the closest I've come to watching softball this spring. I went and watched practice on Wednesday this week. They are scheduled to scrimmage a couple teams on Sunday this weekend. I really hope the weather cooperates. Gracie also got to go catch one of the pitchers at her lesson last night. She was so excited to get an additional workout in. Can't wait to see them play again!

Throwing to third.
I guess this is a recap of our past week. The kids' school year is over. It's a very anti-climactic ending, but Owen has his last online meeting with his 4th grade teacher today. He already found out that his teacher for next year is Mrs. Batye. Gracie had her two years ago for 4th grade, and love her. They are still planning on summer school in July, which I hope happens. Gracie is signed up to do workouts through both the school and the YMCA in June. She is going to be exhausted, but says she wants to do both. We're also waiting for confirmation that league games for both softball and baseball will start in June.
Grandma Deb left yesterday afternoon to head further north to Iowa. She stayed here for almost two weeks and it was awesome! Gracie was a little upset when she left; very concerned that it would be another 9 months until we see her again. I promised her that it would not be that long again. Owen, of course, was so wrapped up in his Harry Potter book that we had to pry him off the couch to say goodbye. I think they just cope differently. We worked outside the rest of the afternoon and planted our little saplings that were delivered the day before.
