New Addition

I started this post almost 3 weeks ago, with the intention of getting it done at that time.  We have had a lot going on again and I have a lot to write about!  The best thing, though is the new addition to this Britton family... Ruby!  We adopted a new dog early in October and she has adapted well to our crazy family.  Ruby is a yellow lab who looks almost identical to Jack, but is about 6 inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter.  Here are a bunch of pictures of our newest family member.

Actually, this is Jack.

And this is Ruby

She is so sweet and has a LOT of energy at 9 months old.
She can probably jump over my head and runs really fast.

Owen playing with Ruby
She loves to chase the ball and has gotten so much better at bringing it back.

So cute!

Both kids playing with Ruby

Ruby has met the horses and is still learning to stay out of their pasture.

She has also met the cats and they are getting used to each other.
Nutter is not so sure that he wants Ruby around, but Tom doesn't seem to care and pretty much ignores Ruby.

Another Mizzou football game

Here we are at the homecoming football game.
We won the most recent home game, but have had a few losses since then.

The Pumpkin Fun Run!

Owen and I took the morning of October 19 to run the race again this year.  Gracie is too old now, and had a softball tournament in Columbia.  Owen's friend, Sean, ran it also.  Sean is a pretty good runner and Owen couldn't keep up with him, so had to settle for running with his mom.  His friend ended up winning the race.  I think Owen's pace was about 8:15/mi and it was a 1.4 mile loop.  He was tired afterward.  It was a beautiful day, though.

He worked hard and had fun!

End of Softball Season

Gracie ended up only having one more tournament for the fall season.  The last one, which was supposed to be Monster Bash in St. Louis ended up being rained out after we stayed in a hotel with only an outdoor pool.  Not great.  The team was going with a Smurf theme this year and we were all bummed about the weather.  Gracie was going to be Clumsy Smurf and Nick was Pap Smurf.

However, Socktoberfest in Columbia ended up being pretty fun and the girls placed 3rd of 17 teams.  Here are pics from the last tournament.  They went 3-1 on the day and played from 9am until 9:30pm.

All the different socks for the day.
In the middle is their 3rd place trophy.

Look at that bow on Gracie!

Getting ready to bat...nice WonderWoman socks!

Meeting on the mound

Gracie got some pitching in and did a great job!
It's been so long ago, that I don't remember exactly how it went, but she pitched in 2 different games.

One of her hits

Last game of the night.
I guess it ended up being the last game of the fall, too.

Love these crazy girls.

Feels so good when I run well!  This was the first great run I'd had in a long time.
I haven't had many long runs, but the sub 8 minute miles are more frequent right now.  It probably helps that the temps have dropped significantly and the humidity is basically gone.
Next race on the agenda:  Going to try the Turkey Trax in Columbia again.

Our kids are crazy.
Some of the things that they do just baffle me.

And this...
This is how you're supposed to watch football on Sunday afternoons, right?

Congrats Gracie!
She earned student of the quarter for her class.  Each 6th grade teacher nominated a student for this honor and she got it for 1st quarter.

So...story behind this:  One of the administrators/teachers from the school emailed me about a week before they planned to come out to our house to put this sign in our yard and congratulate her.  They said it would be on a Monday evening, and Mondays are a little crazy with work for me and dance for her, so I gave them a small window of time that we would be there and they said they could make that happen.  This was a secret and Gracie didn't know it was coming.  So, on that Monday, I was in a hurry to get her to dance and get myself back to work to get more stuff done and completely forgot that they were coming to our house.  Nick was actually home and called less than 5 minutes after I left with Gracie.  I said, jokingly, "What did I forget?"  His response, "Umm...there are some people here to see Gracie."  Her teachers and the school administrators showed up right when they were supposed to and Gracie was not there.  I felt horrible and told Gracie what happened as we continued on our way to Columbia.  She laughed and said that she was wondering why she saw her principal on our gravel road when we were leaving.  UGH...some days I just can't get it right. I guess this is a
#MOMFAIL

Anyhooo...she was pretty happy and we took a picture as soon as we got back home that night.
We are so proud of her.

Here are a few more pictures of Owen helping Nick clear out one of the trophy cases at MATC and moving them to the new football facility.

School pictures.
Gracie forgot that she was playing with her hair during class and left the little braid in for pictures.
Nice Gracie.
This is also after straightening her hair.  It was a humid day.

And Owen.  Perfectly messy spiked hair.
I think he takes longer to get ready than his sister.

Like I mentioned before, I think I started this post about a week before Halloween and am finally getting around to writing and narrating.  There is so much more to add and hopefully I'll get another chance soon to update.  We are into basketball and wrestling now and it has also snowed.  Snow I guess fall didn't last very long this year.
