Catching Up
I guess these pictures are even quite awhile ago. It's really easy to post pics from my phone, but not as convenient to write about them. I'm not even sure where to start, it's been so long since I've written anything. We've been to 3 football games, made a trip to Iowa, gone down to the lake, start softball games, and continued to go to Owen's football games. He only has 2 left!
Gracie and Owen with Grandpa Tom

I can't remember exactly when this was, but we went to the "fan" night at the indoor facility. Gracie is posing for a picture.
Here's Owen with Truman!
Owen playing football. He has had so much fun this fall and I'm glad we found a place where he can continue to play flag football.
More football
He is playing through Upward, which Gracie played basketball through a couple years ago. It's not really competitive, but Owen seems to still love playing.
Birthday Fun!
Owen loves Harry Potter!
Owen with his friends on his birthday
They all went out to play with the horses before going to the rodeo. I think we could've stayed here and would have been just fine.
Gracie and her friends getting turns riding Sonita.
More fun.
Owen blowing out his candle. This year for his birthday he wanted an oreo cake, which made it much easier for me than in years past. The cake was pretty good and didn't take nearly as much time as the other cakes I've done for him. Yay Owen!

Fun at the rodeo. Owen with his friend Madden
The kids didn't start school until August 28 this year. This is the latest we've ever started, but I think they will still be done before Memorial Day. So Owen's birthday was before school started, but Gracie got to celebrate hers at school. Gracie is in 5th grade and Owen is in third. This is Gracie's last year at the elementary school. It's kind of nice having them in the same school again. These are some pics from the first day, which was about a month ago.

All of us ready for the day
Tom wanted to join us waiting for the bus.
Silly kitty
There they go! Another year started. It'll go so fast I'm sure. I can't believe they've already had a month of school.
Gracie's turn!
Since Gracie had friends spend the night on Owen's actual birthday, we just celebrated by taking cake after her practice. She got to be with all of her teammates plus one other girl from Ashland who stopped by to help celebrate. I don't think there are many other places she would rather be than a softball field on her birthday.
Happy birthday Gracie!
I think they went a little overboard with the cake. A few girls ended up with cake everywhere.
Gracie's team celebrating the birthday. They are a fun group of girls.
A trip to Iowa
Labor Day weekend was spent in Iowa. We stayed with Annie and Chad all weekend and fit a lot of activities in a short amount of time. We got to see a couple friends and made a trip to the mall in Des Moines. We also got ice cream from Hickory Park and had a fun time at the zoo with family.
Owen feel asleep with his Harry Potter wand in hand the first night we were there. I think he was tired after the first week of school.
Gracie reading to River
Chad took Gracie and River on the waverunner for a little while one of the mornings.
Trip to the Zoo
We met most of Nick's side of the family at the zoo Sunday afternoon. It was fun for everyone to get together and Grandma Deb came all the way from Florida!
Feeding the goats at the petting zoo
All of the grandkids in a row. There are a few missing, but this is a good showing.
Gracie and Ryleigh waiting for their pizza at Chuckey Cheese

We had to miss the first football game when we went to Iowa, but we made it to the second. It was kind of rainy out, but we still had fun. and Mizzou came away with a win.
More fun with horses.
I really meant to get this posted much earlier.
All day on 9/11 I was wishing Grandma Jeanne a happy birthday in heaven. The kids and I baked these, which are the cookies she made for the bridal room on my wedding day. My aunt Mary had the recipe printed on a towel in her handwriting. Mine weren't as good as I remember hers being, but the kids liked them.
I miss her every day.
We are heading to Kansas City on Saturday for Gracie's softball tournament. Owen and I will have to drive separate because he has a football game that we don't want him to have to miss. Hopefully it's a fun weekend. Gracie's team has moved up to 12u and they are a pretty young team. It will definitely be a learning experience for them this fall. There are only 2-3 players who have played 12u before on her team.
