The Month of May
Well, now that it's been over a month and a half again since I've posted anything, I'll catch up starting with May. The days, weeks, and months seem to go by so fast! With work, it seemed like May couldn't get done fast enough, but before we knew it, the month was gone. There was a lot going on, to say the least. I'll do my best to recap.
Nick went to a few jazz band rehearsals in May and played in the spring concert with the high school kids, as requested by the band director. He had a great time doing it and it was fun for him to get his sax out to play again.
We spent a lot of time going to the forest just south of where we live to hike. This picture is in early May and Gracie and Owen had their friend Raegan go with us. They always have fun there.
I don't usually post many pictures of myself, but here are a few of the race that I did with a team of ladies. We took turns running from Jefferson, IA to Des Moines, IA (75 miles). Each of us had between 10 and 15 miles total apiece. It was so much fun and I'd do it again without hesitation. We endured most of the elements throughout the day with the exception of snow. Chilly start, wind, heat, and rain, we got it all. Then three weeks later I ran in Dam to Dam, which was also an awesome day. Nick and the kids met me downtown at the finish before heading to Gracie's tball game.

Finishing up my first leg of the race...5.7 miles. Little bit of rain...no big deal. The wind and heat were a lot worse on my second leg.
Miss Gracie during her dance pictures. I'll have more pictures from dance in my next post. Immediately following dance pictures, I took the kids to the Ozarks for a very short vacation over Memorial Day Weekend. Nick couldn't make the trip this time, but it was nice to see my family for a couple days.

We didn't arrive in Osage Beach until pretty late on Saturday night, but we had a full day on Sunday of playing at the lake and swimming in the pool. We visited Reefers for lunch and Mom and Dad had dinner at their house. Annie and Chad came to join us. The next morning we stayed for breakfast and left mid morning to drive home.
Still not afraid to jump into mud puddles.
Throughout May, Gracie still had t-ball games every Saturday, with practices on Thursdays. Nick had club wrestling three nights weekly and I continued to do my grad school class. Owen still goes into practice with Nick periodically and does well most of the time. I also had two races during May, one the team race and the other, a 1/2 marathon. I wrapped up school for the year and was thankful to get the seniors done and graduated. There were only a few who didn't make it this year, which was disappointing, but we did everything we could.
So, I hope I've addressed all the important events of May and will continue to update for June.
