Getting Ready for Christmas

It's amazing that just a few weeks ago, Owen and Gracie were playing outside in the sand box...in shorts.  Much different story now.  November flew by so fast, but as usual, it's probably the busiest month of the year for us.  Wrestling has officially started and the first dual was last night, which we won against A-D-M.  The kids and I didn't go, though since it is almost an hour drive and didn't start until 6:30.  Gracie kind of needs her sleep.

The Sunday prior to Thanksgiving Nick actually thought it would be ok to go get our tree.  I jumped on that opportunity.  So, for their first time, the kids went with us to cut down a tree at a local tree farm.  In the past, we have just gone to Lowe's to pick one up.  It was a fun afternoon and the kids were pretty excited.  They can't wait until Christmas!

Right before Thanksgiving, Gracie had her dentist appointment and Owen went with.  I hadn't made an appointment for him, but they had time, so they convinced him to try it by bribing him with a neat toothbrush that lights up.  They both did great...no cavities!  Owen was pretty cooperative and loved playing with the suction thing.

Thanksgiving was fun with the family.  We had a nice long weekend and it was the first time Nick had a day off in probably over a month.  Gracie and Owen both spent the night Wednesday before Thanksgiving at Nick's mom's.  Their cousins were also there, so they had a great time.  Nick and I got to go out together and get some shopping done.  We also went to a movie for the first time in a long time.

Sunday was the ISU vs. IA wrestling meet and I also had the community choir concert at the high school.  Nick's mom took the kids to the wrestling meet so I could sing.  They were so exhausted by Sunday night!  Monday was also Gracie's concert for school. That was so fun to watch.  I don't know how they get that many kindergartners to all do the same thing!  I think there were over 40 of them up on the risers together.

This week has also gone by very quickly and I can't believe that there are less than three weeks left until Christmas.  Nick has a tournament tomorrow and I have the kids.  Gracie is still doing basketball and tomorrow we get to go see Santa at the hardware store in town.  My niece, Joslyn turned 1 this week, so we have her birthday party to go to.  Then Sunday, the kids do their Christmas program at church.  So, we have lots going on.  Only two more weeks until Christmas break!!!!
