Halloween has come and gone...
I can't believe it's almost been a month again since I posted anything. We have been busy, but not many photo ops have presented themselves. The kids had fun trick or treating and carving their pumpkins. Gracie's was interesting this year. She drew a one-eyed, two nosed monster for her jack-o-lantern. Owen requested a scary spiderman. Nick is so good with complying.
Owen "drawing" the face on his pumpkin
Gracie helping scoop out the guts. Yuck!
All of the jack-o-lanterns in a row
Lit up (Gracie's is the one on the right)

The past few weeks have been crazy busy with the start of winter sports at ISU and wrestling at Ballard. Nick is coaching high school again this year and also helping out with the youth wrestling club. Owen tried the club, but it didn't work out so well. He just wanted to be with Nick the whole time and not listen, so Nick had to bring him home. We'll try again next year. Gracie said she definitely did not want to do wrestling, so there was a little relief with that. She started basketball last Saturday and looked like she was having fun with it. It was entertaining to say the least. We have yet to find something that she really doesn't like doing. (Besides wrestling)
We've been to a couple more disappointing ISU football games, but the kids still seem to have fun. Gracie told me that she wants to take a trip to New York again to watch football. I had to tell her that it wasn't going to happen this year. :( We are probably going to skip the last game of the season, as the weather is not looking good and it's a pretty late game. Owen was disappointed, but I told him we could go visit Grandma Deb instead and he seemed ok with it.
Last weekend was pretty nice and the kids and I actually got outside to play for awhile on Saturday afternoon. Owen was wearing his shorts, football jersey, and helmet, with football in hand. He plays football with himself; it's so funny to watch. He has also had a huge growth spurt. I think he's at least 2 1/2 inches taller than he was in August, only a few months ago. I noticed the other day that his pants are starting to look a little short.
Gracie likes school still, but it is challenging for her, I think. She doesn't do as well with paying attention during group time, but her conference went well for the most part. She is doing fine academically and is right where she's supposed to be. She just struggles a little with self-control and not talking when the teacher is talking. She is still doing dance and tumbling and going to Sunday School. Both kids asked to go to Sunday school AND church last weekend. Kind of strange, but I'm glad they like it. It took a while for Owen to not cry when I left him at Sunday School. They have their Christmas program on Dec 8. Gracie has her program at school on Dec 2.
We're looking forward to hopefully a little down time over Thanksgiving break. Maybe Nick will get a day off!
