Labor Day

We got to spend Labor Day this year with the Merrills.  That was fun for the kids, as well as for myself and Nick.  We helped load hay into the barn and Nick took the kids out on the horses for awhile.  It was a beautiful day this year; not too hot, like the previous week had been.  Of course, that has all changed again.

Gracie is riding by herself in the ring.  She has Grandma Deb right next to her, but doesn't need a whole lot of help.  She's learning how to make the horse go, stop, and how to turn.  Nick leads when they go outside the ring, but Gracie does pretty well.

 Nick and Owen on Thunder

 Tony on Bullseye

All of them heading out to the back pasture.  When they got back, Gracie got off and Owen had a turn riding by himself.  Nick led him around with Thunder, of course.  They look so good; it's fun to watch.

Heading out

After the long weekend, we headed back to reality.  Gracie is still kind of adjusting to kindergarten, and Owen is doing well in preschool.  Gracie had a cheer clinic two different nights last week and performed at the first football game on Friday night.  The week was exhausting for her and I think she has had a meltdown almost every night because she is so tired.  The good thing about that is she goes right to sleep as soon as we get her clean and in bed.  It's rough being a 5 year old kindergartener.

Owen, of course is still getting a long nap every afternoon, so is not ready for bed when Gracie goes.  He would prefer to stay up until after 9pm and doesn't really like to go to bed upstairs.  A couple nights this week he was allowed to go to sleep in our room, downstairs, and then we took him up later when we were going to bed.  This seemed to work.  Maybe he just likes feeling a little closer to us when he goes to sleep.

They both have their annual check ups with the Dr. this week.  I'm sure that will be fun, as they both probably have to get shots again.  I'm kind of interested to see how much they have both grown since last year.

I'm in my last week of class this week.  YAY!!!! Now I'll have a few weeks off before I have to start at it again.  My job has changed a little bit this year and I'm not just supervising a computer lab.  I don't have any time to study at work, so I'm doing all of my school work in the evenings.  So, I've had to adjust a little bit to my new schedule.
