So much has happened since my last post. I don't even know where I left off. We tried to take a trip to the Ozarks, but had to come back early due to Nick's grandmother being admitted to hospice. We had a couple days there, which was good, as we obviously got to take a boat ride and spend some time with family. Gracie and I got to ride the wave runner, too. She wasn't a big fan of that though. She preferred swimming in the pool.

Prior to leaving for the lake, we had a very busy weekend, as well. We spent a lot of time with friends, going to the pools and lighting off fireworks. I took Gracie to the Ames Waterpark on July 1st, which she LOVED! She spent most of her time going down the slide that she was too small for last year. I'm guessing that she spent over half of our time there doing that. She was willing to float on the lazy river with me for one or two laps, too. We went with some friends so Gracie had some kids her own age to play with. One of our friends bought fireworks and set them off out in the country by where we will build our house. We spent the 3rd of July out there and Gracie was up pretty late that night. I was kind of impressed with her. She slept in until about 8:30 the next morning.

Owen has also been swimming on a few occasions, but isn't very fond of the life jacket, so we have to hold him most of the time when we are in the water. I believe Gracie was the same way the first summer that we had her around water. Now she loves her life jacket because it makes it really easy for her to be independent and she understands that if she doesn't have it on, she will not float. Owen does like the water, but again, he likes to be independent and doesn't always want us to hold him. This poses and dilemma in the water. Owen is also walking much better now and I have lost count of how many steps he can take in a row. I'm pretty sure he can walk all the way across our apartment and walking is becoming his preferred method of transportation. He also has a new tooth, which equals 7 now. This appeared on July 9th, and he let us know.

Nick and I played in a softball tournament up in Stanhope, IA (separate teams), which was fun, but neither of our Huxley teams won the tournament this year. We also went to the Iowa Corn Indy Race in Newton during July, which was fun. I don't know if I'll go again, but it was a good experience. His mom kept the kids while we were there.
