I can't believe it has been over a month since I updated our blog. I don't have very many pictures from the last month, but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. The last part of April went by so fast, as May also has. During April, I took Gracie to the ISU spring football game and a rugby game too. That was a first for both of us. I don't quite understand rugby, but it was entertaining. We have tried to get down to Nick's mom's at least a couple times monthly. Gracie loves playing outside there and never wants to get off the horses when Nick takes her for a ride.
The first weekend in May, Nick's younger siblings came to stay with us while Tony was in the hospital, which was fun. I took the girls and Gracie to a Mother's Day party at Gracie's daycare and then we played outside most of the day. We took them all to see Tony the next day. He has been home now for over a week and is trying to get back in the swing of things.
Nick has started working on the bathroom upstairs. It will be a slow process, but at least there is some progress now. He and Josh got the shower up there this week and now Nick needs to finish the wall and get the plumbing in. I can't wait to have a bathroom up there!
We went to Nick's mom's to celebrate mother's day and luckily it was a nice day and we were able to play outside. Gracie wouldn't take a nap in the afternoon, so she was exhausted by the time we were ready to go. She fell asleep by the time we were down the driveway. Then we went to a graduation party after that. It was a very full weekend.
This past weekend, Nick's mom came up in the morning on Saturday and went to garage sales with me. I was able to find some baby boy clothes, but didn't go early enough to get a new infant swing or other fun outside toys for Gracie. Nick went golfing all day and then we took Gracie to a friend's 5th bday party. They had a huge bounce house for all the kids there. It was a lot of fun and Gracie was exhausted when we got home. Sunday we didn't do a whole lot. Nick stayed home with Gracie while I went shopping for a couple hours
Gracie is doing great. Her sleeping habits have changed a little bit and it has been really difficult to get her to go to bed at night. She struggles with winding down at the end of the day and it doesn't help that it is light out so late. She is still taking really good naps for the most part though. Two nights ago was the first time in over three weeks that she went to bed without a fight. Last night she had to put her bunny blanky over her face to fall asleep. It was kind of cute. We really need to get some blackout shades for her room. She still likes to eat almost everything. Her vocabulary is getting bigger each day. Sometimes it is still hard to figure out what she needs/wants, but it is getting better all the time. She is starting to put together short sentences, too. She can say "daddy help please" or "Jasmine come." She also says "up high" all the time. She loves it when Nick plays airplane with her and swings her around. I love watching the two of them, and listnening to her laugh is the best thing in the world! We have started trying to get her to use the potty we bought her, but most of the time by the time she says "potty," she is in the process of going or has just gone. She'll get it eventually. She doesn't like to have to put a diaper back on, so that must be a good sign. She is able to run around and climb on most things and she is still fearless. When she takes off, she is so quick! I don't know what I'm going to do toward the end of the summer when I can hardly move! She is such a good little helper right now, though. She helps with laundry and cleaning and seems content following me around. I made her promise that she would still be the same when she is 16. :)
This coming weekend we have graduations to go to and Nick also has Special Olympics going on. It will be a very full weekend. Then next week I have another Dr. appt and it is the last full week of school. We will be heading down to Missouri for Memorial Day weekend. I will be doing summer school a couple days a week this summer, which will be nice. Gracie will stay in daycare three days a week, so it will work out perfectly. I'm sure we will stay busy.
