Welcome Fall!
It has been well over month since my last post and we have been busy. I guess I will start with our most recent activities and work backward. This past weekend, was my cousin Alison's wedding which we all went to. Like an idiot, though, I forgot my camera, so I have no pictures of Gracie in her cute dress. She was a rock star, and danced for quite some time at the reception. She was all over the place and had tons of fun. It was hard to get her to leave even though she was pretty tired. My parents were also back for that and my mom got to stay with her for a day while Nick and I were at work. We also went down to Nick's mom's for the first time in a long time this weekend. It was such a nice day and we all spent a lot of time outside. Gracie was a bit more timid around the big horses this time, but still willing to get up and ride with her dad.
The previous weekend, Nick and I took her to an orchard that is about 6 or 7 miles from Huxley. It was pretty neat and Gracie had fun picking up the apples that were laying on the ground. That place had a whole area for kids, with a corn maze, corn pool, animals, etc. Gracie didn't do that part, but picked out a few pumpkins and climbed on some straw. I also went to the ISU game against Baylor and Nick's mom came up to hang out with Gracie for awhile.
The weekend of the 10th, I went up to northeast Iowa with some friends I have met through Gracie's daycare. We stayed at a cabin, went shopping and went out to eat a lot. It was a lot of fun to spend some time with girls. Nick had Gracie for the weekend and I think all went well.
Nick was in Kansas City the week before that at the Kansas St. ISU game. We also celebrated our 7th anniversary that week. We went to the musical Wicked the following week, which was awesome! I'm so glad that we got to do that. I would definitely go again if I had the opportunity. Gracie stayed with a babysitter that night. Prior to that, I can't remember much. I know we've been busy with football, work, and just the day to day stuff that we do.
Gracie is doing fantastic and has yet to get sick this fall. I'm sure that is coming, though. The most she has had is a little cold, which Nick and I both had for about a week, also. She is trying to say more and more words, but it's still pretty hard to understand. She does well with sign language and can tell us "more," "all done," "please," "eat," "stop," and sometimes we get a "thank you." She tells Jasmine to "go on" and we can tell when she is trying to say "gonna go." She is able to point at things that she wants. She still calls most animals "dogs" and we're trying to get her to say horse. That still needs some work. Gracie can go up and down stairs, but tried to go face first down the stairs the other day. That didn't work out so well for her. She's fine though. Gracie has not slowed down with her eating. She will eat until she throws up and most of the time we have to stop her. She gets pretty upset if we make her stop and she still sees that there is food left on the table. I really can't believe how much she can eat. She is doing great with sleeping, too. She hardly ever wakes up at night anymore and sometimes will sleep for 12 hours. She is down to one nap, which is usually about 2 hours, depending on the day at daycare.
This coming weekend, she will be Baby Tinkerbell for Halloween. We'll see how this goes. I'm just excited to get some candy with her. :) I think we'll carve our pumpkins tomorrow with her. I'm sure she'll enjoy getting the goop out of them. I'll make sure to get some pics of that.
