June Chaos

On Sunday evening, almost a week ago, as Gracie and I were walking out of the softball complex in  Shawnee, KS, she made the comment, "It's done.  We made it."  She was referring to the first two weeks of June that she had been away from home, playing/practicing softball every day.  Owen had also been grinding and gone for a week, returning from Pennsylvania earlier that morning.  Here is my account of the past few weeks.   wrestling: Mulvane, KS  → softball: KC/DeSoto, KS  →  softball: Allen, TX  →  softball:  KC, KS  → wrestling: Philadelphia/Oak, PA → softball:  Shawnee, KS → home. This was Mulvane, KS June 1-2 Nick and Owen traveled here, and I covered this tournament in the previous post. Owen is with his bestie, Bryce. :) Pic of the arena...18 mats, lots of wrestlers Gracie with all of her teammates - 8 of them stayed with Kali Lucy and Gracie Pool time at Ella's Gracie had a full four days of practices, co...

My Creativity is Exposed

Here are a couple of highlight videos from June tournaments...I wasn't sure if they would work in here, but they seem to play just fine. I created the 2nd one first, but she told me that she can't post that one on her recruiting stuff because of the basketball clip.  The Team 1 Elite Tournament included 4 days of games, and then she came back home and played 2 basketball games the next day.  Just happened to have one of our local news stations at the games covering our new basketball coach, and she made a pretty good (lucky) shot at the end.  It's fun seeing her have fun with this. I will add more about our first half of June in a separate post.  We've all been pretty busy and traveling a lot.

The June Marathon Begins

I cannot believe we are here. June is here.  It is all starting, and so far has been manageable.  A lot of planning, waiting, and organizing is about to take shape in driving, flying, and sleeping in hotels/vrbos/ airbnbs.  First, a day of hiking over Memorial Day weekend...  We spent a couple hours on the trails and wading through water, followed by a picnic lunch at Three Creeks.  We have been there before, and it seemed like there was a bit more water this time. I didn't partake in the "wading/swimming" Others seemed to be ok with it, though. No thanks. Deb and I found a trail parallel to the creek to walk on, but everything was pretty muddy because of the amount of rain we've had recently. They seem happy though. Owen was very reluctant to participate in the hike, but didn't have much choice.  As in the past, it takes about a half hour of hiking together for them to enjoy the the forced fun.  Gracie gave in a little earlier than Owen this time. Ahh...
