There is Never a Dull Moment in August

Image
First Day of School After our trip to Iowa, the kids and I had one day left of summer before school started on August 15.  They are still at New Haven, and will switch to Southern Boone when our house is done and we move.  They are very happy now, though to see their friends and get back into a routine.  I can't believe that I have a second and fourth grader!  I'm also happy that they both still love going to school.  I hope this is still the case when we make the move. First Day! Waiting for the bus. And just like that....they're gone. It seems like not too long ago that we had to force Owen, kicking and screaming, onto the bus to make him go.  Now he hardly looks back after riding his bike down to the end of the driveway, while yelling "Bye, Mom!"  Gracie also gets herself ready in the morning, only occasionally needing a reminder to brush her teeth.  And then after school...While most of the time it's a bit chaotic try...

Summer's End

And just like, that, the summer is ending!  I can't believe that the kids start school TOMORROW!  Fourth and Second graders!  We have the New Haven Elementary open house this afternoon and then the bus will be here tomorrow morning at 6:50am!  Luckily, the kids are really excited to start school again and they can't wait to see their friends from New Haven.  We had hoped to be moved into the new house by now, but this will work out for the best.   Finally, a boat ride! Owen enjoying the lake This is only the second time all summer that they've had the boat out.  Gracie and Owen were pretty excited to go for a ride!  Grandpa Tom even went fast for them.  That doesn't happen very often.  I hope that Nick and I get to go some time this fall! Gracie and Owen have spent at least a couple nights per week down at the lake for the last several weeks so I can continue to work.  They have loved being with Grandma and Grandpa! ...
