Videos of Thor

Here are a couple videos of our new little guy. Gracie found a sweet spot and he loves getting scratched there.   Owen is not impressed with baby horse breath. Nick brought Sonita and Thor out into the yard to play for a little bit.  When Thor gets too far away, Sonita doesn't like it and calls him back.  It was fun to watch everything.

May Update on Our Life

One would think that adding a baby horse would be enough to keep us busy, but the past three weeks have been a blur.  Owen has had a trip to the emergency room, we have continued softball and baseball games, more pets added to our family, a trip to Iowa, field day and a carnival at the school, and the final Cub Scout Crossover Ceremony. A few weeks ago at one of Gracie's softball games, Owen was playing tag behind the bleachers with some friend.  They were using a concrete half-wall as their base and Owen dove into it to try to stay "safe."  Needless to say, the wall did not move and it took Owen out.  He was quite a mess and we were concerned about a broken nose or possible concussion.  After about an hour with ice, we decided he needed to be seen by a doctor, just in case.  Thankfully, his nose was not broken and he just had a really bad bruise and some road rash.  It was healed within a week! It's a Boy!

We have been waiting a long time for the arrival of the new horse, and finally he is here!  Sonita delivered a colt on Thursday 5/18, at approximately 5:00am.  Nick and I woke the kids up to see everything, so it was a long day for them, but I think it was worth it.  Our new colt and his mama are doing great.  His barn name will be Thor.  The kids loved this!  This post will be completely dedicated to the horse aspect of our lives, but we have had a lot of other activities going on, as well.   This is Sonita the day before she gave birth.  She was very calm and quiet the day before.  I am not working right now, so checked on her quite frequently that day.  Nick was up with her that night a lot when she started getting really restless.
